Yes, unlimited, but Alltel claimed you only get unlimited to Alltel customers. And when most people switched, it charged so much per text. Apparantly they got it all taken off, but I wouldn't be surprised to see alot of people come up with this problem.
My final Alltel bill wont be available until shortly after the first of the year. We have 1000 texts for the 2 phones per month, and most of my texting is to people outside the Alltel network. If I see any crazy surprises on that final bill I'll try not to have a coronary over it!
Our final Alltel bill came a few days ago and it did have 200 x 2 for early termination fees but they were all credited back. We actually ended up a credit of 10 something on our last bill from Alltel.
I went over to the Tricities area yesterday and noticed that cell signals were pretty much hit and miss for AT&T along the way.
Best Buy is currently offering the HTC Incredible for free with 2-year contract on Verizon Wireless. Droid X is $199 with contract. Both are really nice Droid phones.

Got my bill from ATT today...340 bucks. Paid for all the time i used for the time since i activated it, PLUS next month.
Only bright side is I did have a credit for 140 bucks on my alltel bill. Anyone know when or how we will get this?
Anyone who got a credit on their final Alltel bill - CALL ALLTEL. They'll get a check to you. Otherwise, a customer service representative told me it could be several months until audits catch those credits and kick in payments. The credit on the Alltel bill should pretty much equal any overages on your AT&T bill incurred from switching early.
Anyone else get charged TN tax on their ATT bill?
